LETTER: Western Governors request consultation by Forest Service in decision making

Western Governors encouraged U.S. Forest Service (USFS) leadership to revise its current guidance on decision making with cooperating agencies and intergovernmental partners in a letter sent on March 7, 2018.  As governors possess primary authority for management of state resources, they must be consulted by USFS and coordinate its land use planning processes with states. On USFS’s efforts to reduce duplication in environmental reviews and address inconsistency, the letter urges: “State consultation on these efforts should begin immediately and continue throughout the process.” Read, download the letter.
