LETTER: Western Governors promote consultation with states in U.S. Forest Service rulemaking changes

Western Governors sent a letter to Chief of the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) Tony Tooke to congratulate him on his appointment to the post, and to formally introduce WGA policies regarding the work of the USFS to encourage a close and productive working relationship. The letter sent on November 21, 2017 references the proposed rule to revamp the USFS public participation process. The governors encourage the USFS to design a process that addresses its concerns about unnecessary delays in implementing non-controversial manual and handbook changes, while ensuring that states are aware of proposed changes to policy.
