LETTER: Concerns about provisions in proposed Hydropower Policy Modernization Act of 2017

CATEGORY:
Energy

The Western Governors' Association sent a letter on May 1, 2017, to the Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce to express concerns about provisions in Section 34 of the proposed Hydropower Policy Modernization Act of 2017 that designate the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) as lead agency for all hydropower authorizations, approvals, and requirements mandated by federal law. The Governors requested that this language be removed or amended so that existing state hydropower licensing authorities are not replaced, or in any way impeded, by FERC jurisdiction. Read, download the Letter
