COMMENTS: WGA agrees with BLM, states are best equipped to manage hydraulic fracturing regulations

The Western Governors’ Association submitted comments on September 20, 2017 to Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Acting Director Michael Nedd in support of the agency’s proposal to rescind its final rule “Oil and Gas; Hydraulic Fracturing on Federal and Indian Lands.” One of BLM’s rationales for the proposed rescission is that the Rule is unnecessarily duplicative of state regulations, which echoes the Western Governors’ view that states effectively regulate hydraulic fracturing and redundant federal regulation is not required.
