Western Governors urge the Department of Energy (DOE) to fulfill its statutory obligation to consult with Governors or their designees before preparation and throughout development of the 2019 Congestion Study. The Sept. 25, 2018 outreach to DOE Secretary Rick Perry signed by WGA Chair Hawaii Gov. David Ige and WGA Vice Chair North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum “strongly recommends” that the agency seek gubernatorial consultation in the Study since it “will greatly affect state and regional energy, infrastructure and land use planning.
