Eleven Western Governors and four Canadian Premiers met in Jackson Hole, Wyoming June 29 - July 1. Agenda topics included energy, climate change and adaptation, wildlife corridors and water policies for a changing world.

Transportation Fuels for the Future
Western Governors are encouraging accelerated development and deployment of alternative transportation fuels and improved vehicle fuel efficiency.

The Governors' policy was based upon a report delivered to the Governors by their Advisory Committee onTransportation Fuels for the Future. The Committee have created a Council to track implementation of the recommendations and monitor results.

Western Renewable Energy Zones
Western Governors and the U.S. Department of Energy have launched the Western Renewable Energy Zones (WREZ) project. Utilizing those areas in the West with vast renewable resources to expedite the development and delivery of clean and renewable energy is central to the goal of the project. Participating in the project are 11 states, two Canadian provinces, and areas in Mexico that are part of the Western Interconnection.

Wildlife Corridors
Western Governors are committed to protecting wildlife migration corridors and crucial habitat. They adopted a new report and are creating a Wildlife Habitat Council to implement recommendations adopted in June 2008. The governors also adopted a related policy resolution in 2007.
